Hello to everyone. Today was a pretty good day for Anthony. We had the CT scan this morning and the preliminary reports are that the swelling in his head has gone down so perhaps the neurosurgeon will remove the shunt tomorrow.

He is still on the steroids to reduce swelling in his airways and everywhere else. He has had some trouble breathing, but is getting nebulizer treatments and they are suctioning out his lungs. Last night and this a.m. he had a fever 101+, so the doctor took some blood and spinal fluid to check for infection. The spinal fluid has come back negative which is good ... that means no bacterial menengitis, but we are still waiting for the blood tests.

He was put on blood pressure medication and his pressure has gone down significantly. No word yet on the pathology report, possibly next week but we are hoping for tomorrow. Last night they put him on a feeding tube through his nose into his belly and they are giving him fortified breast milk, four ounces every four hours. He is so much happier now that he's got a full belly. I got to hold him last night for 3 minutes while the nurse changed his bedding, he and I were both very happy about that. After they take the shunt out we should be able to hold him more often.

Olivia is having a great time with Nana and Pap and spent yesterday with Aunt Sally. I heard she had a great day playing with the dog and on the airplane ride up there she told one passenger that he smelled like cigarettes and smoking was a bad habit and told another that he had a big belly!! She's always looking for an opportunity to speak her mind!! <-- She must get it from Anthony! HA!!
